Living Farms 2.81

Living Farms is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization. We work with forest dependent and adivasi communities in Odisha India.

Our key focus areas include:

1. Reorienting agriculture to produce diverse, safe and nutritious foods. Addressing malnutrition and undernutrition, specially for children and mothers. We have seen significant impact like drops in infant mortality rates, increase in health awareness after sustained work with the communities.

2. Focusing on sustainable agricultural practices and reviving traditional multi-cropping. We have been able to see strong improvements in reducing food scarcity through capacity building programs to encourage use of multi-cropping, seed management and revival of forest foods. We have a strong focus on sustainable organic farming also creating a safe environment for pregnant women and mothers

3. Re-orienting forest management practices by focusing on forest regeneration and preservation to address climate change challenges. We are also encouraging community sharing and local knowledge preservation through participative intergenerational learning.

We work with the support of farmers' organizations, civil society organizations, social action groups, scientists, health workers/ professionals, environmentalists, academics and donors (organizations or empathetic individuals) to further these causes.
