Born in 1955 from humble beginnings as a tabloid of somewhat questionable origins, the Golden City Post rose rapidly to redeem itself when the Argus Group took it over in 1971 and simply called it Post.
The Indian community rose to the occasion and when Gandhiji came to SA he started the Indian Opinion in 1926 and the Leader, Graphic and Post followed. Today, with a circulation average of over 45 000 and a readership of more then 300 000 followers, Post is a highly influential and successful ethnic paper.
Most members of the Indian community, despite linguistic and religious differences, seem to find common ground in ethnic papers and in this respect Post serves the function of bringing a community together. In its secularity and political neutrality it makes space for all members of the Indian community, and so many political parties, as well as Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths find common ground in the pages of the Post.- Prof. Devi Rajab
