Authenticity, total child development and a big element of fun are key role players in the truly South-African musical education programme, Kiddi Beat. The lesson material is specifically composed to expose the learners to a variety of music, singing styles, cultures and languages reflecting the diversity of South Africa.
With its holistic approach, the programme applies singing, dancing and playing activities to develop a great range of abilities in kiddies from 0-6 years reaching a lot further than the granted musical outcomes.
Kiddi Beat Potchefstroom is owned and run by Grethe Uren, a music & math teacher and mother of two. Her passion for changing the lives of the kiddies and having a long-term influence on their development becomes tangible when she presents a lesson. Since she bought the franchise in 2010, Grethe has presented the programme at Pre-schools and Playgroups in Potchefstroom. She also runs a Kiddi Beat Studio where parents and kiddies can enjoy the interactive, fun sessions of Kiddi Beat.
Activities in the programme include:
- Listening to music
- Singing
- Movement

- Reading & Writing notation
These activities offer specific musical outcomes including:
- pitch
- timbre

It is the other disciplines resulting in non-musical outcomes that give Kiddi Beat a holistic, whole brain development edge. These include:

“After a Kiddi Beat lesson my daughters (Lilly-Ann: 5 and Annabelle: 3) talk about the new songs and dance moves they’ve learnt with uncontainable excitement. I see the development of confidence, creativity and imagination in my children when they work out their own unique routines and literally dance like no one’s watching. Kiddi Beat is always first on the list of potential activities”: Renée Watson – a Kiddi Beat mommy.
