Located only 90 minutes from Johannesburg, hugged in the folds of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage site, lies the Old Imperial Inn in the historical little mining town of Venterskroon, about 30 km from Potchefstroom and 10 km from Parys.

The town was established in 1889 when gold-prospectors came to the Dome to search for gold. The town of Venterskroon is very small, with only a Post Office, a Police station and a hotel, the Old Imperial Inn. Since January 2012, the hotel has been restored to its 1889-flare and in May a vintage Bistro and Saloon opened.

Focusing on the magnificence and mystery of the area, The Old Imperial Bistro is an open air restaurant located between the scenic mountains of the small historical mining town in the heart of the Dome.

This relaxed atmosphere where great food meets laughter and relaxation with a scenic background second to none.

The atmospheric old Zundapp-saloon is the get together place for chilling in the Dome and offers a selection of wines and spirtis...and of course beer. The saloon, complete with a zundapp-motorbike as beacon, is the place where visitors become friends.

We specialize in family get-togethers, small conferences, high tea and birthday celebrations. Groups that break away to the Dome on weekends to do the hiking trails or the numerous other activities offered, are welcome to visit the Imperial Inn Bistro for lunches and/or dinners.

With the cry of the fish-eagle in the background and the sun setting in the west with a sky tinged a blue-pink on the mountains, this pristine treasure will make your heart feel at home.

Venterskroon is definitely THE 'must-visit' destination in the Vredefort Dome!
