The SAFY Group acquired the South African and Namibian franchise for Dollar Thrifty Car Rental in May 2002 exposing the company to an established client base in 70 countries. The Thrifty Automotive group is a Fortune 1,000 company whose headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Currently Dollar Thrifty Car Rental has branches nationwide including representation at all major airports in South Africa and Namibia. To increase our accessibility to the conscious traveler we have recently partnered with the Hilton Hotel in both Cape Town and Namibia. To further our accessibility to customers we have recently opened branched in Durban city center and The Sandton Eye which is conveniently situated in the business district directly across Gautrain station. Dollar Thrifty Car Rentals initiative for the year 2012 in respect of expansion of our branch network will included Mthatha Airport in East London and Lanseria Airport in Gauteng.

To cater for the needs of commercial light to heavy duty vehicles we have recently launched the Thrifty Van Rentals division. The current fleet of the said division is 250 vans.
