Phoenix Student Success Program 1.96

The Phoenix Program is a holistic student success and engagement program spearheaded by Chris Robinson, assistant director in the Haworth College of Business advising office at Western Michigan University in 2013.

The program includes several initiatives across many touch-points throughout students’ academic careers. These initiatives include support contracts for students on academic probation; reaching out to students reported by faculty to have low attendance, missing assignments, or less-than-passing performance; bringing in motivational speakers; promoting inclusion and belonging through advisement of an intercultural business student association; collaborating with other stakeholders on initiatives including a multicultural “meet and greet”, an online cultural question and answer center, and an innovative recruitment effort, to bring at-risk high school students for campus visits to help cultivate a belief around their ability to go to college.
