Funshop 3.68

Funshop was established in 1976 as a program that would celebrate childhood. The program's founder, Georgia Davis, wanted to create a special place where parents could nurture and enjoy their child's development. A place where each child could experience that wonderful feeling of being very, very special. The Springfield Park District saw this as an opportunity to serve its youngest citizens and provided a foundation and home for the program, Funshop has been thriving in the Springfield community ever since ~ the light from thousands of smiling faces testifying to its success. Funshop is an interactive early childhood education program for parents and children together. What clearly makes Funshop unique is the parent involvement component and early entry age, The program serves children 16 months to five years. Funshop mentors parents with the powers and skills they need to help their child grow in their love for learning and for life. A wonderful hour in a wonderful place! (Georgia Davis left Funshop in 1982 to pursue her interest in the medical field.)
