**Sara started riding when she 8 years old. As a teenager she was a member of the USCTA and United States Pony Club and attended camps, clinics and ratings. In 1972, at the age of 14 Sara attended the Morven Park International Riding School as the youngest person at that time admitted to the program. During her teenage years she competed up to 2nd level in dressage. Sara aged out of Pony club with a Graduate B rating. Sara had the wonderful opportunity of working with Bengt (Ben) Ljungquist during those years. As an adult Sara had the privilege of participating in clinics and also had private instruction from the renowned George Theodorescu whenever he was in Virginia. When introducing her to the flying change Mr. Theodorescu so wisely told her, “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet!” Sara began showing again in 2000 with 2 horses that were not necessarily suited for dressage but with correct and proper training and with assistance from Radu Marcocci she brought Martinis Gold successfully to 3rd level and her son Allegro to 4th level. Martinis Gold is permanently retired and Allegro had been retired but is again showing with one of Sara’s students at 1st level. Sara then had the opportunity to purchase a 17 year old Schoolmaster. Helmar did not have the best of show records. Again, with correct training and proper riding she competed him successfully to Intermediare 1 with an average score of 65%. Sara has earned her Silver Medal from USDF from the scores earned competing on the afore mentioned horses. Sara has studied the classical dressage masters from Podhajsky, to Dekunffy as well as others. Now that Sara has retired from competition she has the time and desire to share her skills and vast knowledge through teaching. Sara loves bringing a horse and rider team along together. She has many ways to share her expertise and many different approaches to teaching the classical skills and rock solid basics that enable a rider to continue up the levels, whether it is in the show ring or riding for their own personal journey. Saras past and present successes are a testament of her dedication to the art and sport of dressage. The proof of her teaching skills is in the success of her students from local and state awards to USDF Medal winners! This speaks volumes of her talent and ability to impart important skill sets and good work ethics in the new or seasoned rider. She has put together a small group of riders to compete in both schooling and recognized shows and would love to welcome some new members to the team. Maybe it’s you! In addition to working with those who wish to show, Sara recognizes that there is a need for instruction for those who do not wish to compete, but would like to develop a better rapport and harmony with their horse.COMING SOON**
