Alaska SPCA Thrift Store 2.56

We are part of the non-profit orginization AKSPCA: Alaska Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! Our thrift Store proceeds go to programs like our spay and neuter clinic next door, our adoption center on Arctic, the Fix-A-Feline program, and providing education and emergency food assistance for pets. You can help by shopping at our thrift store, making monetary donations, donating, or simply spreading the word!

We get a lot of questions about donations so I would like to provide information to better inform everyone interested in donating items for the thrift store.

The most important thing to know is that our donation hours are different from the thrift store hours. Our donation hours always end 2 hours before we close!
Monday-Friday 11-5pm
Saturday 10-4pm

It is very important to get this information out. We appreciate everyone's time and efforts and donating, but please understand that we have a small staff and we need those two hours remaining to catch up on our work and better do our jobs. We must be firm about not accepting donations after 5pm. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us!

-We do recycle plastic and paper shopping bags! Please make sure they are clean and hole free.

-Newspaper, bubble wrap and tissue paper can be used for wrapping up breakable items!

-We provide free coffee for our customers daily and we will be happy to accept ground coffee, creamers, and sweeteners in unopened packages!

-We do accept unopened packages of pet food, kitty litter, and other pet items for our store cats, emergency pet food program and store.

A general rule of thumb: If you wouldn't buy it please do not donate it! Items must be in good and reusable condition. Please remember we are not a dump. We will not accept donations as a way for you to get rid of your trash! Donations are an act of love, and we will not tolerate those who attempt to abuse our orgnization's policies by attempting to do otherwise. That includes dumping items when we are not open or without our permission! :(

Please respect that whatever we DO and DO NOT accept is at OUR discretion!

General items we do accept:

-Clean clothing and shoes without tears or stains. Please no used undergarments or swimsuits.

-Books and Magazines!

-Household items, knickknacks. Anything electronic must not be broken.

-Gently used stuffed animals.

-Boardgames and Puzzles with all pieces.

-Handbags, Scarves, belts.





General Items we do not accept:

-Entertainment centers

-TV's

-Appliances

-Light Fixtures

-Exercise equipment

-Toys
