Grew up playing games since 1984, first game i played was donkey kong or pac-man at 7eleven convenience store. i was hooked on it, with the colors and the controls of the games. It was very addictive, because when you die, you would want to continue on. First console i ever got was an Atari 2600 with combat. Combat was a tank and plane game where you battle to see who could shoot the opponent more. We played for hours on end, with my cousin and my brother. we grew up pretty poor and a family of refugee coming from Laos. My oldest brother and his wife and our cousin sponsored us to get to america, we got to Hawaii in 1984. Living in a 2 bedroom apt with 7 of us, it was a pretty nice place, always nice and sunny. The best part was, we were only 2 blocks from 7eleven. A place we would go to get candy and play games. while growing up my cousin and i would always go to certain arcades and video game stores to check out what is new and what is fun to play. we would play Rygar, Rastan, Double Dragon, Ye Air kung fu, Shaolin road and more. then one day we come across, Street fighter with buttons, which was crazy unheard of back in 87. most game had a max of 3 buttons. It was so cool how it had a nice story and each button change how it hit the opponent. there was so many games that came after that. Mostly when console were a big hit, i would hang out at video games store that sell them and i would talk to employees of the places. ToysNJoys was one of the funniest place i shopped at when i was young. they had everything from imports, toys, and the latest games. Kbtoys, ebgames, electronic boutique and other game spot at the mall was pretty cool to see. so around the age of 18, i was thinking what i wanted to do with my life beside working the jobs. i really wanted to do what i love to do and that is something in the console gaming, either working at a video game store or owning one myself. i was delivering pizza, delivering wholesale meats, asian markets, Carrs, delivering appliances, fitness places and working odd jobs. i wasn't sure how the video game store works because of trade-in, pricing and what not, so much stuff to think about. When one day a play n trade was closing up, which belong to my wife's cousin. we decide to reach out and see if we can buy it off of them. i had the knowledge about games, repair, and customer service but no knowledge of how it was run. so we teamed up for a bit and after a couple of years we bought the partner out. Change the name to Video Games Alaska and have been serving our customer since. always love street fighter so we have an arcade cabinet at the shop. we carry games from the 80s to the latest. a new quote we got this morning was {Video Games Alaska "Console Gaming for every Generation" Star]

we would like to thank all our customers that help us shape what we are today, by supporting your local game store.
