Tyddyn Teg Cooperative was formed in 2015 to take up the opportunity of running an established veg box scheme in Bethel, Gwynedd (between Bangor and Caernarfon). For 20 years prior to the establishment of Tyddyn Teg Coop the previous owners, John and Pippa, had run a well loved local box scheme. A group of interested local people wanted this fantastic community resource to continue in spite of the retirement of it's previous owners and so the worker coop was born.

Tyddyn Teg is a fully mutual cooperative, in which all of its permanent workers are members and those members own and operate the co-op. No bosses here! Decisions are made collectively, by concensus and that's working out very well for us.

We're currently expanding the scheme and bringing more of our 31 acres into rotation. Our ethos is to reduce damage to the soil, caused by tillage and compaction, and to reduce inputs from outside of the farm. So, in practice this means we're increasingly experimenting with no and low till approaches and including green manures and cover crops as an integral part of our rotation.

Over the course of the next year, we'll start using the farm to support a North Wales Permaculture Design Course, we'll be opening up to several more events and we'll be the first farm to obtain the Glas Tir woodland creation grant for Agroforestry.
