Pentwyn lake or Parc Coed-y-Nant (Trees near Stream) was constructed as an ornamental lake in 1975 as part of the former Pentwyn

Park Improvement proposals and is now currently being run by Coed-y-Nant Angling & Conservation Group.

The lake is fed from the Nant Glandulais Stream course. The deepest section is approximately 1.2 metres close to the dam. Although shallow, the water supply is constant and fairly well oxygenated with a 6-8 day turnover.

There is a reasonable stock of Roach, Bream, Perch, Tench, Chub with Carp being one of the predominant species, and there are future plans for desilting and restocking. The lake is popular with local anglers from both Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn estates due to its convenient location.

The area is a public park and is often used by dog walkers, local residents and children as well as anglers.
