Based in an ancient woodland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we have access to around some 60 or so acres of broadleaf woodland. Your stay with us will find you surrounded by beech, hornbeam, oak, ash, hazel, hawthorn, birch, chestnut, elder, willow, maple and more species of wildflowers and plants than we have been able to count. You will share this magnificent setting with deer, badgers, foxes, squirrels, rabbits, weasels, stoats, owls, sparrow hawks, woodpeckers, jays, robins……….

We see our role as educators and it is our firm belief that for you to be able to effectively learn the bushcraft skills we teach, you must be comfortable. So we ensure that you are warm, dry and well fed. We have a permanent bushcraft camp in place with a yurt and wood burning stove, a parachute, a kitchen area, work benches and a composting toilet. We have areas where you can pitch a hammock, tarp or small tent, cleared of hanging dead wood, or you can camp on the adjacent working farm campsite.

We place a strong emphasis on natural history, woodland management and conservation throughout all of our bushcraft courses as we believe that this knowledge should inform everything we do in bushcraft. Preserving and enhancing the woodland in which we teach is factored into all of our activities.

As well as teaching core bushcraft skills, for a one-off skills session or a team building event, we offer a wide range of specialist bushcraft experiences including, amongst others, knife & axe carving, tracking & nature awareness, woodland cookery and iron age blacksmithing.

Jack Raven Bushcraft is proud to be an Approved CPD Provider of the Institute for Outdoor Learning and provides training for the IOL’s Foundational Bushcraft Competency Certificate, a great way to formalise your bushcraft training and gain a nationally recognised award.
