Background

There’s a first time for everything and this year saw the birth of the first ever all sisters Race Team in the shape of ‘Goundry Girls Racing’.

Sisters Alicia, Tilly and Sienna all race in the Iame Cadet and Junior X30 classes and after discovering that finding three available spaces in a team wasn’t easy, they just decided do setup their own. The girls have really burst onto the national scene this year, Alicia picked up Karting Magazines Female Driver of the Year, with Tilly being nominated and Sienna was the most popular in the Rookie of the Year Award!

About the Team
It comes as a huge surprise that with all three girls racing in their own team there is no previous racing history in the family at all. It all started with Alicia back at the end of 2013 after she saw a friend karting. Slowly but surely Tilly started then Sienna as soon as she was old enough. The family tried putting the girls into race teams to start with but it became logistically too difficult so that created the birth of the Goundry Girls Team earlier this year. The setup does not look out of place in a national karting paddock at all and with the girl’s recent success there have even been enquiries from other girl racers to join the team, something the team are strongly considering.

Meet The Girls
Alicia
Age – 12
Alicia started in hire karts at Warden Law at the end of 2013. The next year she won the club championship there in Iame Cadet so decided she was ready for the national scene in 2015. She competed in the LGM series with AIM Motorsport before the Goundry Girls Team was made. Her positive attitude helped her improve every time and now she’s a comfortable top 10 finisher at PFI and Shenington club meetings. She also won Female driver of the Year Award in 2015!
2016 – Junior X30, LGM & Super 1

Tilly
Age – 9
Tilly started in January 2014, she was the only one of the sisters who initially took no interest in racing but has since fallen in love with it! In February 2015 she suffered from a nasty accident at PFI where she broke her left ankle in four places, her right Tibia and her thumb. She was in a wheelchair and wasn’t allowed on her feet for ten weeks. She went onto a walking frame in June, but four weeks later she came back to race at Kartmasters where she received a great reception when she crossed the line! Her bravery and determination led her to being nominated for Karting Magazine Female Driver of the Year Award and coming 3rd in the John Surtees U13 Driver Award 2015
2016 – Iame Cadet, LGM & Super 1

Sienna
Age - 8
Sienna started racing in August 2015 and did her ARKS test the day before the LGM round at Rowrah. She then threw herself straight into that event and picked up the novice trophy. She since went onto win Novice trophies at PFI, Shenington and Whilton Mill. Her rapid rise in speed saw her being nominated for the 2015 Rookie of the Year Award where she received the most hits on Facebook with 636 likes. She may be behind in terms of experience on her sisters but she certainly isn’t that far behind when it comes to lap times!
2016 – Iame Cadet, LGM & Super 1

Meet The Team
Team Boss
Andy Potter
Age - 24
Andy heads up the Goundry Girls Team. He has experience with all the best European KF Teams including the likes of RFM, CRG-SPA, Baby Race and has worked for UK Teams including AIM Motorsport and Fusion. He works full time maintaining the karts during the week and leading the mechanics on race weekends

Danny Drew
Age – 23
Mechanic for Alicia
Danny brings a wealth of experience to the team having spent last year working for British KF Team Forza Racing. He has worked with the likes of Kush Maini in the past but is now ready to leave that behind and stay UK based with Alicia.

Sam Fuggett
Age – 25
Mechanic for Tilly
Sam spent last year working with Fin Keneally in the AIM Motorsport Team. Fin was the Vice European Champion and also finished 3rd in the Super One Mini Max Championship. His success and knowledge should help Tilly progress in LGM and Super One throughout the season.

Joe Porter
Age – 24
Mechanic for Sienna
Joe worked with Jordan Brown-Nutley last year in the CRM team. Jordan competed in the BNL Karting Series and Super One Championship with regular success. Joe being a former British Champion himself will be a great help for Sienna progressing as a driver.

In the Media
Off the track the girls have found themselves attracting a lot of attention from the media. Being an all sisters race team is something very unique and they have been filming with ITV about Women in Motorsport, carried out BBC interviews with Susie Wolff and helped to launch Susie's Dare to be Different Campaign at the Autosport Show in Birmingham.

Partnership Opportunities
The girls success offers many sponsorship opportunities even for companies who may not usually take part in motorsport. Hundreds of people attend each race with thousands attending championship races and many more watching TV coverage on Sky. 2015 Bio
From the very start their unbridled passion has seen them spend every non-school moment researching and honing their sport. With the ultimate dream of an F1 seat, at present the girls are enjoying learning their race craft as they progress through the ranks of motorsport. Based in Durham in the NE of England the girls race nationally and are excited to show that the sport is not just for boys and that girls can win Championships too.

In their first competitive year the girls Sienna (8) Tilly (9) Alicia (11) have secured over 50 podium finishes, won several novice awards, managed to get their National A Licences and won two championships and come second in one championship. Alicia was the first girl to win the TWKC and TKC Championship in 2014.

In 2015 the girls are racing in the British National Championship "Super One" and can currently be seen on track for the TVKC Winter Series at PFI.

Racing in the IAME Cadet class on the new Synergy chassis the girls are excited for the future .... why not join them for the ride.
