Since the first Festival in May 2011, the event has developed from being held over two days in the first two years to one day in 2013. This has made it more feasible for participants and exhibitors to attend and to make it more spectator friendly, and was largely successful in 2013. The premise of the event remains the same - to showcase cycling across a broad spectrum and to showcase Eastbourne both as a tourist destination and a cycle friendly town.

The 2013 event saw the first Elite road race held on the course and we believe that this will develop into the Festival becoming an un-missable event on the cycling calendar. The focus in 2014 will again be on the Western Lawns with a full programme of events on the Closed Road Circuit and on the Western Lawns. A sportive, children’s events, schools events, leisure cycling, off road riders riding a route on bridleways across the Downs and new for 2014 will be an Urban cyclo cross event using the circuit and the Lawns and the beach/promenade, promising to be a hugely entertaining finale to the day, that will ensure an event unlike any other on the South East Coast. We expect in excess of 1,000 competitors, with an anticipated footfall of well over 5,000 visitors on the day. Various retail exhibitors, plus a bike stunt riding exhibition, are currently being lined up, all of whom expressed interest in 2013 to return in 2014. The Festival has the full support of Eastbourne Borough Council who see it as a key event in their summer programme of events.
