Body Focus is a gym with a difference. There is no signup fee, no membership fee and there is no hard sell; we're a friendly bunch.

The team can provide you the path to a healthy lifestyle with excellent results. You can attend our classes, or for a more personal experience with maximum results try our 1-on-1 plans.

The Body Focus team are all fully qualified and have been in the fitness industry for many years. We are very keen on attention to detail and strive to provide a top class service to all attendees.

The studio has been specifically designed with our expert knowledge to be functional yet make you feel at ease during your workout.

The intimidating factors that make the larger gyms slightly uncomfortable are removed from Body Focus. You can rest assured that you will be in a friendly and productive environment here.

Body Focus has three fully equipped studios containing all the right gear for professional teaching and achieving top results.

We pride ourselves on being able to provide the right kit whether that be machines, bags, ropes or weights to get the best results for you

At Body-Focus we have three studios;

Studio One
Our main studio is where we hold most of our classes. It has a large open space for group sessions as well as machines for training. The kit comprises of 2 rowing machines, 2 cross trainers, 14 spin bikes, a grappler pulley machine, and assisted dip and chin machine.

There are also 3 full sized punch bags, benches and many other smaller equipment used for circuit and 1-on-1 sessions. Of course it also contains all the necessary safety gear for safe training.

We hold the following classes in studio one - kickboxing, spin, circuits as well as being used for 1-on-1 sessions.

Studio Two
Is used for the same purpose but mainly 1-on-1 sessions and only small classes such as women fitness classes, pilates, and stretching.

Also this room comprises of 3 Precor treadmills which is ideal for general warm up area.

Studio Three
Is full of free weights from light weight workout to heavy olympic bar work out programmes 1-on-1 sessions and circuit type classes.

We also hold regular classes;

Kickboxing
The average class contains between 10 and 20 students. With children and adults being taught separately. All students work as a team, encouraging and motivating each other during training, its a fun and friendly environment.

All classes are based on Semi/Light Contact Kickboxing, students are made to wear body protection that covers the head, feet, shins and hands to avoid injuries.

If you would like the option of doing Full Contact kickboxing or wish to learn as an individual, these are available through the 1-on-1 sessions, please contact Phil for more information

Phil Allen has been an instructor of Lau Gar Kickboxing for many years and has won many national, international and european tournaments.

We are part of the Bristol Lau Gar Association, with access to inter-club tournaments and National Super League Tournaments.

Lesson breakdown
We always start our classes with a gentle warm-up. This is to make sure that you are supple as this helps avoid injury.

After the warm-up we move on to some bag and pad work, getting you in the mood. This will then be broken down to focus on technique where you will work at your own pace to make sure that you master each skill.

Once we have covered enough technique work, the class will move on to optional sparing. The sparing is controlled and safety protection is fully supplied and always encouraged.

The session will then end with a warm down to relax the muscles and again help avoid injury.

Circuit Class
Circuits are highly motivated, highly energetic and it suitable for everyone; you set the pace.

They're a great way to improve speed, strength, stamina and overall body performance.

Circuit training utilises a series of static stations that continually challenge the upper and lower body, as you progress round each station, certain muscle groups will be targeted for a period of time at that station.

A typical Circuit Training class can consist of 10 or more stations. A set time will be specified for each station, with possibly extra exercises inserted between some station changeovers.

Exercises in the sessions include:

Shuttle Runs
Step-Up's
Resistance Bands
Floor Work (Pushups, Sit-ups)
Free Weights
Skipping
Plus others

Spin Class
An excellent cardio vascular workout, spinning is a great way to burn up to 1000 calories per session. It is fantastic for toning up, especially the legs and bum.

Sessions are over 45min and are open to all levels. It has a brilliant team atmosphere and has lively music to get you going.

A quick 5min warm up on the bikes and we are ready to move things forward at a steady pace. After 10mins of some harder work, we really step it up to an intense workout.

In our spin class we will work your upper body too. Introducing some light free weights and push-up type exercises. All whilst cycling on the bikes.

Boxercise
A popular class for both men and women at all ages. This session offers a complete aerobic workout, mixing boxing techniques and moves in a circuit training environment.

Working mainly on conditioning the upper body and using some kickboxing techniques on the lower, this highly motivating class is great for toning, stamina, balance, co-ordination & overall fitness.

With punchbags, hand pads & fast paced popular music in use, this non-contact class allows you to punch as hard or as fast as you want to, which is great for stress relief and benefits your mind as well as your body.

Whether it's a tailored plan to help you lose weight, tone up or train for a competition; we've got it covered

With plans constructed by our own world class coaching team, you know that you're in good hands.

Your trainer is your partner and will motivate, encourage and push you so you get the best from your workout.

Your experienced trainer can work out meal plans, exercise plans and will monitor your progress throughout making amendments when necessary to allow for further improvement.

Each 1-on-1 session changes with a variety of different exercises so that your body is continually challenged to get the best workout.

With a personal trainer, you will be educated in the correct use of equipment, the correct way to stretch your muscles and guidelines on how to lower the risk of injury during and after exercises.

Body Focus offers a complimentary induction session, this allows the trainer and you to explore what options are available, and what suits you best.

If a particular exercise does not suit you, your trainer can adjust your training program to take in a wide variety of alternatives.
