Midlands Air Ambulance Charity:

The Midlands Air Ambulance is the only charity responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the communities of six Midlands counties, which constitutes the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK.

Since 1991, the charity has responded to more than 48,000 missions averaging 2,000 per year or nearly six each day, making it one of the longest established and busiest air ambulance organisations in the UK.

What is not widely known is that Midlands Air Ambulance receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Each time the air ambulance undertakes a mission it costs the service £2,500, which means that over £9 million is needed each year to remain operational, which is donated entirely by the public and local businesses.

As approximately 50 per cent of the incidents MAAC attends are road traffic collisions, many of which sadly involve motorcyclists, the charity recognised the growing importance of building strong links with the biking community, which is why Bike4Life was founded.

Safer Roads Partnership

The Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia is part of Warwickshire and West Mercia Police and works in partnership with nine partner agencies to reduce casualties and make the roads safer for all.

The Partnership is responsible for the delivery of the police's road safety strategy across both Warwickshire and West Mercia. Working with agencies across the four counties, the partnership aims to reduce collisions and casualties on the roads through speed enforcement, road safety education, training courses and awareness raising campaigns.

The Partnership focuses its activity on numerous priority road user groups but one of major ones is powered two wheels.

The Partnership runs a series of campaigns, initiatives and education packages to try and ensure these numbers are reduced; one of which is the involvement in the Bike4Life Ride Out and Festival.
