Ashgate Hospicecare 5.11

Ashgate Hospice is an independent registered charity (number 700636) that provides specialist care to adults with life-limiting illnesses, both in the Hospice and community settings, in North Derbyshire. The needs of the patients, their families, friends and carers are fundamental to the philosophy of the Hospice. Our aim is to enable people to have access to appropriate professional assistance and care and to help patients achieve the best possible quality of life in accordance with their wishes.

The Hospice has 24-hour medical availability, the medical team being led by two Consultants in Palliative Medicine and with its full range of services provided by a multi-disciplinary team, is at the forefront of specialist palliative care provision (care to relieve pain where a cure is no longer possible). The team includes Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Home Care specialists, Lymphoedema nurses, Family Support Team and a Chaplain. They are supported by teams of Caterers, Stewards, Housekeepers, Drivers, Groundsman, Administrative, Finance and Fundraising staff. Ashgate Hospice also has very close links with Chesterfield Royal Hospital, where four specialist nurses are based.

To enable us to provide these vital services, we need to raise over £8 million every year through voluntary giving.
