Located in the Beyoglu district of central İstanbul, we are conveniently located for all the must-see sights of the city. Taksim Square, the Galata Tower, Kiliç Ali Pasha Mosque, French Palace, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, St. Anthony of Padua and three other interesting churches are all less than a fifteen minute walk away. You can also reach the Dolma Bahce Palace on foot in 35 minutes, or take a ten minute tram ride to explore the Istanbul’s old town in Sultanahmet, where you will find historic treasures such as the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. There is something for everyone right here on our front doorstep, whether you are here to sightsee, shop, eat, party or relax!
Turning the corner from the shopping streets of Beyoglu, you will find Cheers Hippstreet tucked between the friendly cafés, bars and restaurants of Cezayir Sokak (Turkish for “Algerian Street”), where the intimate and cosy atmosphere offers a break from the busy crowds of Istanbul. Previously known as French Street, the road dates from the 19th century and was redeveloped in 2003 to make way for new attributes such as a shisha shop and a wine bar. It is now the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink or meal.
Hippstreet features a seven person mixed dorm, a six person female dorm, eight private rooms with flat screen TVs and one suite. Reception is open 24 hours a day and guests are welcome to use our kitchen to prepare meals. Free WiFi is available throughout the hostel and use of lockers and towels is free of charge. We have two bars where you can socialise with a refreshing drink after a hard day’s sightseeing: one at reception and the other on our fantastic rooftop terrace.
To make your arrival and departure easier, a private shuttle service can be arranged to and from Ataturk Airport (21km away) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (56km away). Alternatively, a non-stop Havatas shuttle service runs between both airports and Taksim Square, just a 15 minute walk away from the hostel. There are several public transport options for getting around the city which are easily accessible on foot. For the metro you can use Taksim and Şişhane stations, which are both less than a ten minute walk away. Tophane tram station is even closer and links to the ferry service to Kadıkoy on the Asian side of Istanbul. For a little nostalgia you can also take the old fashioned tram on Istiklal Caddesi and hop off at Galatasaray, just a few minutes’ walk away from the hostel.
Our multilingual team can also point you in the direction of the Greek, Dutch, German, Russian, Italian, UK, French and Swiss consulates (all ten minutes’ walking distance), as well as Turkish, German and Italian hospitals (15 minutes on foot), should you need them. We can also share our local knowledge of great activities and sights in the local area and around Turkey.
