THE COMPANY

Kashmir Concept is the new retail arm of Reshi Handicrafts, a well-established wholesaler and/or retailer from Kashmir, India. The business has been in operation for a good 15 years mainly focusing on the wholesale export industry. Its affiliations with different Indian trade organizations (i.e. Indian Carpet Export Promotion Council) have made it possible for Reshi Handicrafts to reach the worldwide arts and crafts market. Hence, Reshi handicrafts is no amateur in the international trade as its presence has been felt in numerous arts and crafts exhibitions worldwide - reaching Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and travelling as far as Europe to the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, and France. Each exhibition proved to be successful, which continually helped the organization to stay in business for the last 15 years. The company also had its fair share of retail experience - then holding small “boutique – style” shops at an airport, mall, and town centre in different parts of India. Not to forget the well-loved "The Kashmir" along Lower Richmond Road in London.


KASHMIR & ITS HANDICRAFTS INDUSTRY

Kashmir is “heaven on Earth” – that is how the "state" is known amidst all the political turmoil and controversy that the place has been experiencing for the last number of decades. Behind all these chaos however, there is this picturesque landscape of paradise, warm and beautiful people, and very rich, vibrant and huge handicrafts industry. The Kashmir tourism industry is on a steady rise as more and more people flock to see the place during its icy winters, colourful spring, and warm summers. Hence, the Kashmir handicrafts industry is proportionally growing. The interest on Kashmir arts and crafts has been seeing better days as people become more aware and educated about it through the efforts of both public and private organizations worldwide such as the UNESCO Heritage.


OUR AIM

Kashmir Concept's aim is to make the Kashmir culture known to the world by exposing and making its handicrafts readily available to the worldwide market. Some of the items are made by the family members themselves, while majority are sourced from carefully-selected private manufacturers from Kashmir to ensure quality, affordability, and value for money. The company has a wide-range of items on offer giving its customers choice and variety. The items we sell are gift items such as papier mache, shawls and stoles (Kashmir cocoon silk, pashmina, Kashmir wool, etc.), embroidery - chain stitch and crewel embroidery, jewel rugs, and hand knotted carpets, rugs, runners, etc.
