There are few things in the world which are quite as evocative as flowers. Like faithful stalwarts, they shepherd us through a plethora of events; conferring comfort during bereavement or illness, hearty congratulations at births or nuptials, quiet support during illness and the timeless display of affection and devotion among lovers. Flirting sublimely with our olfactory faculties, flowers have always enchanted people from all cultures and walks of life. Their captivating with its entrancing hues, heady scents and beauteous curves, have served as an inspirational muse for diverse industries from the luxe fashion houses of Europe, architecture, and prose.

Flora Atelier was set up in 2014 been set up by three friends to pay homage to these marvellous gifts of nature. Our lead florist, Michelle Ho, has had more than a decade of experience in florist industry in Singapore and has served on teams which have provided lobby arrangements, Christmas decorations or bridal displays for leading hotels such as Marriot Hotel Singapore, Ritz Carlton Millenia, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore and Regent Hotel. She has also worked on overseas assignments in Hong Flora Show from 26 February to 5 March 2006 as well as bridal floral styling in Maldives from 20 December to 24 December 2006.

Originally harking from Sarawak, Michelle chanced upon this industry by chance when she first came to Singapore back in 2000. She promptly discovered that she had an affinity with creating sculpture-like works of art using flowers and soon gravitated towards the design sensibilities of the Dutch style of floral arrangement. She read up extensively on books on Dutch floral art and honed her skills at work. A country long famed for its beauteous flowers and its devotion to the art of flower arrangements, the Dutch aesthetic appeals because it leans towards a natural yet contemporary look, utilising layers of different flowers, leaves, fillers and shrubs to truly showcase the inherent beauty of these fabulous gifts of nature.
