Street To School - STS 4.44

Street To School (STS) is a project of Open For Everyone (O4E) Welfare Organization registered with Social welfare Agencies Reg # DSW (S) 2015 . STS is working on to provide education, health, entertainment, rights love, protection and employment to street children.

As we know that in our current situation of our society richer becomes more rich and poorer becomes more poor and educational fees is continuously increasing day by day so the education is so far away from the poor. So initially we are opening a schools in lower areas of Karachi for street children.

Now question arises WHO ARE STREET CHILDREN?

ANS: UNICEF has defined three types of street children: Street-Living, Street-Working, and Street-Family.

Street-living children: are those under the age of 18 years old who spend most of their time on the streets. These are children who cut ties with their families and live alone on the streets. Many children may leave their families at a young age, because of physical and emotional abuse. They are mostly between the ages of 12 and 18 years old. 20% of them are girls.

Street-working: children are those who spend most of their time working on the streets to provide income for their families or for themselves. These children have a home to return to and do not usually sleep on the streets. It is estimated that there are approximately 10,000 of these children in Phnom Penh alone. They are mostly between the ages of 6 to 15 years old. 50% of them are girls.

Street-family: children live with their family on the streets. They are of all ages. 50% are girls.

But we found another category "Street Playing children" who have family, house and limit income but due to financial crisis they spend their time in grounds, streets and parks in playing. STS is initially working on this category of street children. We are working in area of GARIBABAD which is densely populated area in F.B area. Where usually parents go their works and their children all the day spent time in streets and ground.

Objectives of Project:
- To start a high quality standard schooling system for street children
- To work on stakeholders.
- Prevent conflict within their family
- Reduce poverty in the communities and homes
- Promote their integration into society
- Encourage more programs that support them
- Promote child rights

We are running our Drop in Center (DIC) in Garibabad, Karachi in which we are running our three classes Montessori, Kg-1 and Special class. Also we have developed a curriculum for teaching them..
