To awaken educate the people of Sub-continent, an education movement was launched by Sir Syed Ahmen Khan, Justice Ameer Ali And K.B Hassanally Effendi. K.B Hassanally Effendi Laid the Foundation of Sindh Madressah Board in 1885 and Established a school named Sindh Madressah-tu-islam at Karachi with a motto " Enter To Learn Go Forth To Serve.....!!! S.M.B Quaid-E-Azam Public School ( QAPS )
In 1988 SMB, under the vision of K.B. Effendi’s great-grandson Mr. Nisar Hassanally Effendi embarked on a mission – SMB Quaid-e-Azam Public School at a new venue “Darsano Channo”
The school was initiated in few rooms feeder school in Dur Muhammad Goth with 20 students.
Due to its initial success and growth the school campus was shifted to its current location in 1997.

Singularly responsible for encouraging local residents to attend by visiting them personally.
Sadly Mr. Nisar H. Effendi was lost to us in 2014 while performing his duties at QAPS – It is this very commitment with which we pledge to continue and grow this endeavor.

Established at its current location in 1996 SMB QAPS is the Largest and best quality affordable subsidized school currently operating at Education City, Darsano Channo Gadap.
Ideally located near river Malir on the western side of link road, which connects Super Highway (Karachi-Hyderabad Road) and National Highway (Karachi-Thatta Road).
School Campus is established on an area of 200 acres - After the establishment of the school the Sindh Government declared that whole area as “Education City”

QAPS was nominated for the Agha Khan Award for Architecture and Project Architect and received an Honorable mention of the Kenneth Brown Award from University of Hawaii

SMB QAPS aims at providing educational facilities to mainly low-income communities. A nominal monthly fee is charged from students who can afford to pay & scholarships are awarded to under privileged students achieving exceptional results.

The curriculum not only concentrates on academics but also recreational activities.
Currently there are about 800 students enrolled from kindergarten to higher secondary level. There are approx. 200 students in junior and senior hostel of QAPS.

The school at present boasts a staff of 42 qualified, extremely devoted teachers.
