OVERVIEW OF THE District Dir Upper
The District Upper Dir is upper part of old Dir District. At the time of independence Dir was Nawab Shah Jihan Khan ruled. It was merged with Pakistan in 1969 & declared a district in 1970. In 1996, it was bifurcated in Upper & Lower Dir Districts. Upper Dir District consists of Dir, Wari & Sheringal Sub Division with District Head Quarter at Dir.
Boundaries: -
It is bounded on the north & North West by Chitral District, on the East by Swat District on the South by Lower Dir district & on the West by Chitral district & Afghanistan.
Tribes: -
Kohistani, Yousafzai, are the main tribes while Painda khel, Sultan khel are the main sub tribes. Besides these there are other small tribes like Kohistani, Roghani, Wardag, Sadat, Swati, Akhunkhel, Tajak, Mishwani & Gujar.
Religion & Culture: -
In District Upper Dir there are all Sunni Muslims. People of the District are very simple, hospitable & good Pathans. They are known for their hard work. People live & die for their honors & dignity. They feel pride in taking revenge of their enemies but Jirga & hospitality is very dear to them.

1. ESTABLISHMENT OF DIR YOUTH SPORTS ACADEMY IN DISTRICT DIR UPPER

1.1 RATIONALE
District Dir Upper, land of intellectuals and sports lovers is lacking sports avenues as well as sports facilities and thus it is proposed to establish a Dir Youth sports academy in district Dir Upper. Assistance of present government and donors is important in making the dreams true.
1.1 IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS IN ACEDEMICS
It is no surprise that children who participate in athletics excel in academics as well. They can apply the same principles of dedication and hard work learned through sports participation to their studies. 1.2 NEED OF SPORTS ACADEMY

Many people want to have a career in sports and be the best in order to be successful. There are others, who are satisfied with playing it for the local club and fail to improve themselves for national level. The experience you get at a local club is very different from what you get from an academy, and so, it is very important to go to one to get the best.
Academy has a variety of benefits other than physical activity. Participation in sports can help build self-esteem and confidence, can motivate children to excel academically and can help build social skills. Participation also can teach children the benefits of goal-setting and
1.3 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Physical activity is the most obvious benefit of sports participation. Children often spend too much time watching television or playing video games. But sports practices and games provide an opportunity for exercise that can help keep kids in shape and healthy.
1.4 SOCIAL SKILLS

Sports participation can help children develop social skills that will benefit them throughout their entire lives. They learn to interact not only with other children their age, but also with older individuals in their coaches and sports officials. Kids learn leadership skills, team-building skills and communication skills that will help them in school, their future career and personal relationships.
1.5 TECHNIQUE

In any sport, it is very important to know the right technique in order to win the match. For every strategy the team has, there is a different technique to win which helps you attain success. To become a successful player, it is important to know all the techniques and that is possible only if you get proper guidance from an experienced coach. You can never have an alternative to a technique in order to win the match.


1.6 UNDERSTANDING THE GAME

It is very important for a player to understand the game and then play it their way. Apart from that, the understanding of the strengths and weaknesses is equally important to be a good player. This is possible only in a sports school where there is required guidance to help you in the same.




1.7 STAYING FIT

The most important mantra to become a successful player is to stay fit and get over fatigue. It hampers the technique you use in the game making you lose the match. The more you work out and practice, the more your stamina will be, and you will learn to get over it while you play.
1.8 CONCENTRATION

The academies help you be focused on your goal, and concentrate on the key aspect while on the field. If the player loses his concentration, there is no way the match can be won and this can be hazardous for the career. There are several exercises, which improve the concentration power of the players and help them focus.
1.9 DECISION MAKING

In order to become a better player, one has to learn how to take the right decisions quickly and have confidence on the decision at the same time. The priorities are to be managed and taken with intelligence. The academy moulds you make you mature enough to take the right decision and continue with the game.
2. PROPOSAL REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPORTS ACEDEMY IN DISTRICT DIR UPPER

2.1 VENUE OF SPORTS ACADEMY

There is a ground in Dir Upper i.e Dir stadium and proposed sports academy will be established in this stadium for a period of six months
2.2 HIRING OF NATIONAL / INTERNATIONAL COACHES

There are many games played in Dir Upper. However following games are most popular games and as such coaches of national and international level will be hired for these games
Volleyball, Cricket, Football, Badminton, and basketball are popular games
2.3 OPEN MEMBERSHIP

All interested players will be registered through a Proforma and will be charged membership fee of Rs. 500 / month.
2.4 Training / Coaching of players
Under the supervision of trained coaches all registered players will be trained for a period deemed suitable.
Talent Hunt and formation of registered clubs
With the assistance of District based Olympic Association and District Sports Office Dir Upper, open trails will be held inviting all registered and non registered youth / players from all union councils of Dir and finally 3-4 teams in each game will be formed. .
2.5 Final Round of Competition
Open competitions will be held in each of game and winners / R / Ups will be awarded with prizes cash awards and sports equipment.
It is proposed that player of each winning and R/Up team get full kit, shoes and other game equipment for continuing game on professional’s lines.
2.6 Formation of Technical Team
A high level Technical team in each of the game who will identify most talented players of each game and a pool of high quality players will be formed.
2.7 Opportunities for selected players
Players finally selected through Technical team will get chances to represent in competitions held at district, regional provincial and national level.
The process will remain continue for 2-3 years .
