Mandate and strategies of the organization:
1. Poverty and powerlessness are avoidable and can be eliminated by human action and political will.
2. Basic human rights can be met. These include the rights to a sustainable livelihood, and the rights and capacities to participate in societies and make positive changes to people`s lives.
3. Inequalities can be significantly reduced both between privileged and unprivileged people.
4. Peace and sustainable arms reduction are essential condition for development.
5. The process of being fair to men and women-such as equitable allocation of resources and opportunities.
6. Poverty is a state of powerlessness in which people are unable to exercise their basic human rights or control virtually any aspect of their lives. Poverty manifests itself in the inadequacy of material goods and lack of access to basic services and opportunities leading to a condition of insecurity.
7. All poverty and violation of Human Rights are always rooted in human action or inaction. It can be made worse by natural calamities and human violence, operation and environmental destruction. It is maintained by entrenched inequalities and institutional and economic mechanisms.
8. Equality can be seen to be the means and gender equality as the end. Equity contributes to equality.
9. Our program will:
• Address the structural and root causes of poverty and related injustice.
• Work primarily through local accountable communities, seeking to strengthen their empowerment.
• Help individuals directly where local capacity is insufficient or inappropriate for Al-Sadat purposes.
• Assist the development of structures which directly benefit people.
• Facing the realities of power and injustice and which are accountable to them.
10. In all our actions our ultimate goal is to enable people to exercise their rights and manage their lives.
11. For people to be able to exercise their rights:
• Opportunities must be created so people can participate in governing all aspects of their lives and
• They must have the genuine capacity to organize and take advantage of the opportunities.
12. Gender inequalities and other diversity issues will be addressed in our actions and programs.
13. In the economic arena, we will seek:
• To enable people to meet their needs by creating opportunities within the markets while protecting themselves against the accesses of unregulated market forces.
• To strengthen institutions intervening in the market in the interest of the unprivileged.
14. Preventing and reversing damage to the environment is essential to achieving sustainable livelihood.
15. Action against violence must include:
• Coming to the aid of victims.
• Strengthening people`s capacity to peacefully resolve conflicts
• Demanding a determined response and political will from the national and international community where the situation warrants it.
In working together Al-Sadat believe it:
16. Al-Sadat offers a unique potential to achieve greater impact on the root causes of the poverty and powerlessness by combining the diverse experience of human rights advocates.
17. Al-Sadat will stand for clear and consistent approach. We can achieve this through closer cooperation in our communication, advocacy, education and public campaigns, fund raising and emergency, developmental programs and fair trading.
Al-Sadat purpose is to:
• Further the Al-Sadat common goals
• Promote assist and coordinate collaboration among partners where this will result in greater impact of the sum total of their joint efforts.
• Protect the Al-Sadat credibility and enhance its standing.
