HISTORICAL NOTE
The first Nursing Educational Program in the country was offered by the University of Santo Tomas as Escuela de Practicantes, from 1879 to 1904. A School of Home Nursing then opened in 1939, but was closed at the outbreak of the 2nd world war in 1941.
The present course offering is the Philippines’ first Basic Collegiate Baccalaureate Programme for Nursing founded in February 1946.
At present, the University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing is a CHED Center of Excellence in Nursing Education with a PACUCOA Level III accredited BSN Program.
