Lucena Dalahican National High School is the only school here in the city of Lucena catering 90% of the elementary graduates of Dalahican Elementary School and elementary graduates from nearby barangays. It was established in June 1999 through the efforts of Sangguniang Panglungsod ng Lucena and the Committee on Education.
A pioneering four teachers namely Oliva Abrehan, Josephine Pabellano, Ricardo Zubia, and Rolito Inojosa were then teaching with in two classrooms at Dalahican Elementary school. There are 100 first year students enrolled and temporarily accommodated in the compound and facilities of Dalahican Elementary School. On the following year, Pamela Capuno, Teresita De Silva, Mrs. Leticia Grace Zaporteza, Grace Trinames, Agahtha Abrenica Ilagan, Imelda Valdeavilla, Myla Rossana P Banagan, Rosalia Esperanza, Allain Pereda, Carmen Macatugob, and Margie Nagar joined the circle of LDNHS family. The first batch of graduates was first held on March 2003.
In the year of 2008, Classes are divided into two shifting’s. These are MWF (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), the TThS (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). The MWF shifting is for the freshmen and seniors while the TThS shifting are for the sophomores and juniors. There were nineteen teachers including the newly hired in MWF and seventeen in TThS.
Despite the many scarcities and pressing needs, the school has managed to become the top performing school in the division. The students have competed well in the different contests whether in academics, cultural or sports.
