Francisco Bangoy National High School is a public school started in 1969 as a Barrio Extension High School of Davao City Nat'l High School. In 1973, it became Barangay High School when it was subsidized by the City Government of Davao under the leadership of the newly installed Mayor Elias B. Lopez.

In 1988, putting up of the first public high school in Sasa was realized. It was named FRANCISCO BANGOY HIGH SCHOOL due to urgent need to cater the growing high school population having only DCNHS.

The late Paciano V. Bangoy, son of the renowned Francisco B. Bangoy, donated 1 hectare-lot which was utilized for the general purpose of putting up a school (both elem. and secondary) in the area.

In 1988, by virtue of Republic Act No. 6655 known as the FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT of 1988, all barangay high schools were converted into NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS in which funding for the School's operation and teacher's salary would since then be provided by the national government.

Due to its growing population with limited area (2,849 sq. m.), FBNHS has two annex campuses in Lanang (1990) and Malagamot (1994). However, the Lanang campus was GRANTED AUTONOMY and is now known as th RAMOS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL. The latter DR. SANTIAGO DAKUDAO SR. NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL's autonomy is on process of legislation.
