BINABA-AN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

For four decades and a half an institutuion withstands the ordeal of time. The then Binaba-an Barangay High School known today as Binaba-an National High School was founded in June 8, 1968 through the joint efforts of the concerned citizens of the five barangays of Binaba-an and other neighboring barangays. It started only with 3 teachers and 35 students. It was attached to the Binaba-an Elementray School, thus, the supervision was under the elementary principal. Because of the unity and cooperation of the community and school, BNHS has existed for more than four decades making it the only surviving barangay high school in the municipality after three other barangays had closed down due to lack of parent-community support and finances from the government.
The school has no lot of its own that time and it just squat in Binaba-an Elementary School lot until later that the parcel of land was donated by the late Arturo Armada and Miss Maria Leguira. The school has a total land area of 7,020 sq. m. which is composed of two adjacent lots donated by its benefactors. Popularly known as the “Pot Center” of Lambunao, Binaba-an is 9 kilometres way up east south of Lambunao. It is a twenty-minute ride on a motorcycle or jeepney from the town proper of Lambunao.
The school has undergone long periods of transistion from birth to present. It was in 1981 that the school became independent having its own head teacher in the person of Mr. Wilfredo Andreo. There were 11 teachers who were under him. Under his supervision, additional teachers were employed to cope with the increasing enrolment. Permanent buildings were constructed to replace old temporary bamboo classrooms.
As years unfolded, this institution grew with the continual change of administrators as well the increase in it teaching force. Additional teachers were employed to look after the growing population and for its academic and co-curricular performances.
With the growth of its population came the expansion of its physical facilities to cater and to accommodate the needs of the students. The most important improvement to be considered was in 1993 which was the construction of JICA four-classroom building, science building complete laboratory apparatuses and the C.R. This was made possible through the aid granted by Japan Government. At that very the same year, through the virtue of Republic Act No. 6655, Section 7 which is the Nationalization of Public Secondary Schools, the school became a newly nationalized high school in the Division of Iloilo and so then it was called, the Binaba-an National High School.
All throughout the years of her existence, Binaba-an National High School has been making her name division wide and region wide. From a small barangay school, she has gained popularity because of the knowledgeable and talented students who made names in the local and higher level competitions under the supervision of the competent and active teachers who served as their trainers and coaches. The victorious rise of a then small barangay school is made visible through the joint effort extended by the students, dedicated teachers and staff, the school
administrators, now and then, and the unending support
of the community. The internal and external stakeholders
with its curriculum make up this strong and soaring
Binaba-an National High School.
To God be the Glory!
