Baguio City National High School Multipurpose Cooperative - Bcnhsmpc 2.52

Prior to the registration of the Baguio City National High School Multipurpose Cooperative (BCNHS MPC) with the Cooperative Development Authority on November 18, 1996 under Republic Act 6938, there was already an existing cooperative in the campus: the Baguio City National High School Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (BCNHSTEMPC) which was registered on June 16, 1992. The BCNHSTEMPC was earlier organized from its precursor, the Teachers and Employees Savings and Loans Association or TESLA.

The purposes by which the two cooperatives were organized and registered were the same: to extend affordable loans to the members and uplift the members’ economic status by providing them with the needed services at cost and to facilitate the acquisition of other properties necessary for their daily subsistence. However, the BCNHSMPC was organized and registered for the reason that the BCNHSTEMPC was not operating as it should have. Consequently, after the BCNHSMPC was registered, the officers worked out the merging of the old cooperative with the new one; hence, the school now has only one cooperative.
