VANCHIT VIKAS

JANEEV SANGHATANA

Janeev Sanghatana, established in the year 1982, was the culmination of relentless work of 15 years, in various strata particularly the deprived class of society; by Mr. Vilas Chaphekar.
The experience gathered during those 15 years led to the foundation of Janeev with the Mission – Development of the most deprived people.
Janeev strives to bring change through constructive work and organized movement. The focus is on the abolition of economic inequality and Casteism AND thrust on gender equality, environmental protection and population control.
Janeev is a movement with the goal of complete social transformation through change in economic, educational, social and cultural value systems.

Vanchit Vikas –
It was necessary to organize and formally register the work carried out by Janeev Sanghatana. Thus, Vanchit Vikas was registered as a Public Trust in the year 1985.
Silver Jubilee of Janeev and Vanchit Vikas was celebrated in the year 2007 and 2011 respectively.
Vanchit Vikas is an Umbrella organization carrying out various projects successfully. It has spread its network throughout Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.


Residential projects :

Neehar (dew drops) – Established on 5th July 1989 – Lohegaon, Pune
The children of commercial sex workers can be part of main stream of society, provided they are shielded from the environment of red light area and are given proper education. Neehar is the home for rehabilitation of these children. Efforts are made for the overall development through formal education, vocational and technical training. As on date, 65 children between the age group 3 to 18 are residing at Neehar and till date 60 children are rehabilitated, who are part of the mainstream of society.

Chandikadevi Tribal Girls’ Hostel – Established on 19th July 1996 – Patanbori, Taluka Pandharkawada, Dist. Yawatmal
Tribal girls are deprived of education, not only that, child marriages are also common in the tribal areas. The hostel for these tribal girls was started to give them opportunity to attend school thereby helping them to develop their personality and making them economically independent. This would also lead to prevention of child marriages. This project has received good response from the girls and their parents. Currently, 60 girls are taking advantage of this facility.

Sabala Mahila Kendra – Established on 8th August 1994 – Latur
This residential project was started for the rehabilitation of deserted women and widows, who are victims of our male dominated society. These women are provided with all the support to develop their personality through education and vocational training which in turn makes them confident to become economically independent. So far 400 women have been rehabilitated.

Projects in Red Light area

Clinic and Guidance cum counseling centre – Established on 1st May 1995, Red light area, Pune
One of the biggest challenges for medical science was the spread and cure of HIV. Commercial sex workers are the most vulnerable class of people who fall victims to this dreaded disease. The clinic and counseling centre educates these women about HIV / AIDS – how it is transmitted, what are the precautions to be taken etc. Transgenders and general public are also beneficiaries of this clinic. The clinic has been approved for DOTS and ICTC.

HIV / AIDS awareness programme
This is an ongoing campaign in the entire Pune city and rural areas around Pune. Awareness is created through road shows, posters and various other mediums.

Spruha – Community care centre – Established on 1st March 2009
This centre was started with the aim to provide treatment and care for HIV / AIDS infected people. These patients require monitoring / counseling and proper medical treatment. The centre acts as a bridge between hospital and home care. Unfortunately, activities at this centre had to be discontinued due to paucity of funds.

Fulwa – Established in September 2005
This project is undertaken for the children in Red light area. Various activities such as Crèche, nursery, tuition classes, informal education etc are conducted for the benefit of these children.


Working for Children

Children are the future citizens of the Nation. Keeping this in mind, various activities are undertaken to give them opportunity to enjoy their childhood and in the process, develop their personality.

Abhiruchi – Established in 1982 – Pune & Maharashtra
Abhiruchi classes are conducted throughout Maharashtra. Children are encouraged to participate in various activities such as games, story telling, singing, drawing etc. It enables them to understand their potential and helps them to develop their skills. These classes are receiving very good response.

Nirmal Ranwara – Established in 1984
This magazine for children is published with the sole aim of providing clean entertainment to children in the age group of 4 to 12 years. Apart from entertainment, it shows the path for scientific approach, creativity and opportunity for expression; to children.

Awareness Programmes
Village Development Project – started in November 2005
It was observed that awareness regarding the deep rooted social problems like Health / Gender equality / Empowerment of women, is spreading in urban areas. But our villages are still lagging far behind. This project envisages development of villages by direct participation of women, men and children from the villages. It is successfully implemented at Undekhadak, Kolewadi, Bhagwatwadi, Dalvewadi, Damegaon.

Sabala Mahila Kendra, Established in 1982, Pune
One of the oldest projects of the organization, it gives support and guidance for family welfare. Counseling is provided to sort out clashes within the family, amicably. This centre strives for gender equality through education and social awareness.

Mahila Sabalikaran (Women Empowerment) – Started in 2005, Devi, Taluka Saunsar, Dist. Chindawada (M.P.)
Women empowerment through literacy, primary education, health awareness – all such activities are carried out under this project


Publications

Ranwara Prakashan – Established in 1984
Various literature, specifically for children, is published by this publication.

Vipul Prakashan – Established in 1982, Pune
To create and spread social awareness, books on various subjects relating to finance, education, culture; are published through Vipul Prakashan. 17 books are published till date.

Manav Nirman – Building the pool of volunteers – Established in 1982, Pune
Success of an organization depends on its volunteers and workers. Realising the importance of this task as an ongoing process, continuous efforts are taken to build a pool of sincere, hard working and dedicated workers from amongst the youth.
