About the project: The Santal Heritage Project is an effort to collectively articulate the various tangible and intangible aspects of Santal heritage. We hope to collate diverse material about history, culture, everyday life, traditional knowledge and modern developments from Santals in various parts of India and abroad. Rather than focusing on broad narratives, we are interested in specific stories, local features, and details from everyday life that are uniquely Santal.

We invite people to contribute photographs/ videos that show some aspects of Santal culture in their immediate environments and write a comment explaining why the image is significant to them/ particular individuals/ a village or a large group. At the end of this year, we hope to curate an exhibition on the theme through online participation and dialogue with contributors. We will upload further information about the exhibition in due course.
