Al-Aqsa Association for protection and maintenance of the Islamic Waqf in Palestine 1948.
Who are we?
Al-Aqsa association is an official association founded in 1991 cares for the Islamic waqf and sanctities in Palestine 1984. The association focuses its work on the city of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque (the first of the two Kiblah) considered the holiest sanctities of Muslims in Palestine. The association is following the issues of waqf and Arab sanctuaries for restoration and preservation them through a comprehensive study of all Islamic waqf and sanctities in Palestine 1948 to determine the place and how to access them. And it has been accomplished in the first years of its founding. In addition to the implementation of awareness- raising project for all generations of the Palestinian people in Palestine 1948 and linking them historically, culturally, socially and spiritually with al-Aqsa mosque and other holy sites. Al-Aqsa association seeks to instill the love of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque in the hearts of all Muslims in the country and even around the world. It encourages them to go to al-Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem city, and works very hard to increase awareness about the risks that are surrounded them.
Our vision
The association seeks to be the first professional reference for the protection and care of waqf and sanctuaries. It also cares about having communication with the displaced and threatened with removal villages. Finally, it calls for the confirmation of the right to exist and to remain a witness that Palestine is an Islamic waqf land.
Our Objectives
1) Survey and archive the sites, land and property of Islamic waqf in Palestine 1948. And extract coordinates and locate them on the ground and develop a plan to defend it judicially through the restoration of mosques and prevent digging graves or assault it.
2) Following the Islamic sanctities issues and raising the level of awareness and focusing on abuses in Palestine 1948 and the city of Jerusalem mosques, shrines, tombs and Islamic monuments to restore and preserve them.
3) Proving that Palestine is an Islamic waqf for Muslims and forming of an additional tool to refute the illusion and false claim of Zionism in Palestine. In addition, including waqf property confiscated of the Palestinian claim in order to return them to the Muslims.
4) Revive al-Aqsa Mosque by urging worshipers to be present in it continuously. And send buses filled with worshipers (Qwafl al-Aqsa )from different areas of Jerusalem and Palestine 1948.
5) Increasing the level of awareness and promotion of belonging among the Palestinian people in Palestine 1948 and the city of Jerusalem especially among children and young people. Furthermore establishing emotional feelings and solidarity towards al-Aqsa mosque and other holy sites by linking them spiritually, historically, culturally and socially with emphasis on the sanctity.
6) Providing psychological, moral and economic support and justice for the people of Jerusalem and helping them to confront the daily occupation abusive practices against them.
7) Keeping the issue of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque alive in the Arab and Muslim public awareness and spread it all over the world.
8) Preparation of studies, publications, research, conferences, forums, lectures and workshops for all public ages.
The most prominent achievements:
A. Restoration and re-opening of al-Musala al-Marwani during the years 1996-1997, which is located under al-Aqsa mosque that was closed for more than 80 years.
B. Restoration of the old al-Aqsa mosque and re-opening it for prayer in September 1999.
C. Completion of the comprehensive survey project for all the Islamic waqf and holy sites in Palestine 1948.
D. Setting up a chapel of Muslims in cross country road No.6
Central sectors of our work:
i. The sanctuaries and waqf sector This sector is interested in the maintenance and protection of Islamic waqf and the holy sites in Palestine. There are many levels including the ongoing as Jerusalem first camp (annual) at al-Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem city, and restoration of houses in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem. Also there are urgent projects in the wake of attack on the holy sites for example: restoration of Beersheba cemetery and Huda mosque in Jab’a village after burned by settlers. Also preventative projects for maintenance of the waqf as restoration of sayiduna Ali cemetery and al-Qassam cemetery in Haifa.
ii. Relief sector: al-Aqsa association is providing food and health support for all needy segments of Palestine 1948 and the city of Jerusalem through a wide range of seasonal projects as: breaking fast project, al-Adahi project (sacrifice animals) and food Aid project at al-Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem city and the west bank cities and Palestine 1948 in Ramadan month and all over the year. In addition to al-Eid clothing project for the orphans in Jerusalem. Besides of providing health support and medical supplies to al-maqased and almuttalie hospitals and rest of the hospitals in Jerusalem city according to need and necessity and that is at least twice a year.
iii. Development sector and economic support The association implemented several development projects in Jerusalem city based on the promotion of trade movement in Jerusalem and the old city specifically through Qawafil al-Aqsa project( al-Aqsa buses) and al-Aqsa monthly meeting.
iv. Al-Aqsa Buses (Qawafil al-Aqsa ) This project motivates throughout the year more than 100,000 worshipers to go to al-Aqsa mosque from all over Palestine 1948 from Negev, Galilee, al-Muthalath and coastal cities and Jerusalem city. Al-Aqsa association launches more than 2000 buses within this project during the year.
v. Cultural sector and educational support 6 The association puts at the forefront of its priorities raising the status of al-Aqsa and the holy sites and raising the level of awareness about the risks that surround them through many educational and cultural projects such as: preparation guides courses at al-Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem city (Euyun al-buraq) and preparation leaders courses for college students and EYE on the Negev and walls of Jerusalem and junior guide of al-Aqsa for the school students ( al-Aqsa junior guide).
