Hello , my name is Jennie Clarke, and I have a diploma in play therapy and child psychotherapy, from the children's therapy centre in Westmeath.
I have been a qualified play therapist since 2010.
While seeing good results from the play therapy I also saw in many cases that parents who bring their children to me are often in need of extra support themselves. Many are stressed, exhausted, and some feel like they are reaching the end of their tether. When researching how to find support for parents, I came across parent mentoring, and realised that was exactly what they needed. The only problem was that there were no parent mentors in or near Galway at that time. So to fill that gap I trained for two years as a parent mentor with University College Cork, under the tutelage of renowned Clinical psychologist and author, Tony Humphreys.
Now I am in a position to provide help and support to children and also to parents.
I provide individual and group play therapy for children and adolescents, one-to-one or couple parent mentoring, parenting courses and workshops on a range of themes including parenting issues and play.
I am a member of the Irish Association of Play Therapists and Psychotherapists, and the Irish Association of Relationship Mentors, and I adhere to their code of ethics.
