QQI level 5 Cer­tifi­cate in Out­door Sports and Recre­ation. Addi­tional Awards in Kayak­ing and Power Boating.

Aim:

The course aims to enable learn­ers to develop their knowl­edge, skills and qual­i­fi­ca­tions to gain employ­ment as assis­tant instruc­tors in the out­door recre­ation sec­tor in Ire­land. The course also acts as a foun­da­tion for pro­gres­sion to degree or Higher National Diploma pro­grammes in Third Level insti­tu­tions nation­ally. Stu­dents also have the option of pro­gress­ing to the Level 6 sport, recre­ation & exer­cise pro­gramme here in Drogheda Institute.

Pro­gres­sion and Career Options:

Grad­u­ates can gain employ­ment directly from this course as assis­tant instruc­tors within the Out­door Recre­ation Indus­try. Suc­cess­ful grad­u­ates may also apply to pur­sue Higher National Diploma and Degree courses Insti­tutes of Tech­nol­ogy nationwide.

Fees:

All courses have the fol­low­ing basic fees:
€200 reg­is­tra­tion fee (paid by all stu­dents)
€200 Gov­ern­ment Levy (exemp­tions for med­ical card hold­ers, those in receipt of a stu­dent grant e.g. SUSI and social wel­fare recip­i­ents e.g. Back to Edu­ca­tion Allowance)
€50 QQI Exam­i­na­tion fee (exemp­tions for med­ical card holders)

Addi­tional course fees apply for Kayak­ing €200, Adven­ture Activ­i­ties €250
