Romney's Kendal Mint Cake 2.85

George Romney Ltd. was first started in 1918 by Mr. Sam T. Clarke, great-grandfather of the present managing Director John Barron. In the summer of 1919 Mr Clarke purchased an old recipe and started manufacturing in Leightons Yard, Highgate. The name George Romney came from the well known portrait painter and also, the family home happened to be in Romney Road.

In 1918 the company was contacted by the organisers of an expedition to concur Everest, led by Sir Edmund Hillary. The rest, as they say, is history, and Romney's quickly become one of the UK's most popular brands.

Staying strong to it's roots, the company still manufacture in Kendal, and are known for producing the famous Kendal Mint Cake bar which has become an essential kit bag item for walkers and sports people alike.
