The True Light Middle School of Hong Kong is a Protestant girls secondary school located on Hong Kong Island. In addition to secondary education, the school has a kindergarten section and a primary section all sharing the same address. "Thou Art the Light of the World" was chosen as school motto. Six students were enrolled. It was the pioneer of Chinese women’s education in Southern China. The women’s education that it advocates not only raised the status of women in society but also helped nurture the talents needed by the country and made a great contribution to the overall development of society.In 1935, a branch primary school was established in Hong Kong. The secondary section was added in the post-war period. In 1951, the school was relocated to Tai Hang Road. The True Light Middle School of Hong Kong has grown to encompass 3 sections: a kindergarten, primary school and secondary school with a total enrollment of ~2000 students. "On and beyond" was adopted as the theme for the school’s 80th anniversary in the belief that only on solid roots of traditions and history can students stand tall and move towards a new stage of development.
