The Norwegian Forest Cat is one of the oldest native cat breeds. It has not been designed to make some breeder's idea of the perfect cat come true, on the contrary,it is a breed created by natural selection: only the fittest, and with the most appropriate characteristics cats have survived through the harsh scandinavian winter. They are even mentioned in Norsk mythology as they have been faithful companions to gods, and are protagonists in stories still told generation after generation. The first ones that realised those cats are real treasures wrapped in fur were the Vikings,who chose them as travelling companions. When the scandinavians, after sharing many happy years with those creatures, was threatened with extinction, they made their life purpose to save it. Thanks to them, the Norwegian Forest cat continues to gain more and more fans all over the world,enchanting them with it wild beauty and charming personality.
