A minute’s stroll from St-Germain-des-Prés on Paris’s Left Bank and just down the river from Notre Dame, the Great Canadian is the only all-Canadian pub in Paris.
With its splendid riverside location, the terrace makes a superb spot for a leisurely drink on a summer’s evening. Come inside for a cosy pint when the evenings draw in and sample our great home-cooked food.
Monday to Thursday Happy Hour brings a friendly, lively crowd, and five large-screen TVs make TGC the best choice in town to watch sports live.
The Great Canadian Pub was opened by expat Canadians Mark Berry of Ottawa and Daniel Henri of Montreal. Both have lived in Paris for over 18 years. The pair were teammates at Meudon Hockey club in the early 1990′s and always pined for the sports bars of back home in Canada. After years of “talking” and little “doing”, in the fall of 2004 they decided to get serious and find a location and open Paris’ only fully Canadian owned bar. After many months searching for a location, negotiations, red tape, delays and more delays Mr. Berry and Mr. Henri opened The Great Canadian Pub in July 2005. Canadian Ambassador Claude Laverdeur cut the ribbon and “TGC” as it is affectionately known to regulars was born. Today it is widely recognized as Paris’ and probably even France’s best sports bar and restaurant.
Welcome to the Great Canadian. You won’t get a friendlier welcome – or find a Bloody Caesar anywhere else in town!
