Center Overview BNC CHILLAN HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE
Founded on May 21 , 1955 .Non-profit cultural organization .A group of Professionals from the University of Concepción started a project Embassy of the United States /Ministry of Agriculture concerning Assisted Agriculture There was a rich exchange of American and Chilean Agronomists (Engineers in Science and Agriculture ) , and so a need for practicing English from the part of the Chilean people and Spanish from the part of the American people. The Institute started with the assistance of the Authorities of the Embassy of the USA at that time. At first it was just a place where people met to socialize in English , but around the sixties , all the Executive Directors without exception have been teachers of English Graduated from the University . For this reason ,at present all the teachers are carefully selected Teachers of English: Chilean and Americans with a lot of experience and prestige .
Our mission is contributing to mutual understanding between citizens of Chile and the USA , through cultural exchange .
English teaching for Chileans , Spanish classes for foreigners , translation of official documents to apply for educational programs in collegues and universities abroad ,graduate and postgraduate .
We also participate in social Programs for Teens at social risk like Access Microscholarship Program .
This institution has official recognition from the Embassy of the USA in Santiago de Chile as Official Binational Center in Chillán , Chile .
