Woodstock Collegiate Institute 3.98

Woodstock Collegiate Institute owns a rich tradition of celebrating excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. WCI dates back to 1843 when the parliament of Upper Canada voted to include a grammar school in Woodstock. This historic building, built in 1939, has undergone major renovations to bring it up to firecode, complete with new boilers, ventilation system, sprinkler system, elevator and a security system of 31 cameras throughout the school.

This year will see some more physical improvements to our building with the construction of a new Communication Technology lab and Broadcast Studio, a new Drama Room, expanded Phys Ed space and equipment and an upgraded DC Living/Working Skills area. We are also entering the second year of our SHSM in Arts and Culture and our first year in Athletics, Recreation and Leisure. We have updated computer technology in all of our classrooms, computer labs and library. Our musical theatre program will now be enhanced by some of the above renovations and will proud to perform Children of Eden in December of 2011.

Woodstock Collegiate is located in an ideal location for our staff to access the many arts facilities and historic places for field trips and study. The home of the Red Devils and the good ol' RED and WHITE is packed full of school spirit and enthusiasm. WCI boasts a school size that encourages everyone to participate and to feel part of the school. This close feeling of community is the source of loyalty and pride in the "Red Devil" spirit.
