in 2001, Darrell & Barb Bierman, along with their 2 little kids, moved to Cambridge with an idea to start a church specifically for people “who aren't really into church.” They had previously been part of churches that were difficult for pre-believers and new believers to access because of the many habits and teachings there that presented barriers to those just beginning a spiritual journey.

The Bierman’s, along with 12 other families, publicly opened River City Church in January 2003. As the church grows, it remains passionate about its focus on people who have yet to discover a meaningful church experience and is committed to ensuring that the church is focused on 3 simple ideas: loving God, loving others, loving the community.

River City has translated its vision into 8 core values which are Biblically-based and serve as the template for which all program decisions are made. In other words, the core values help us all focus on the main thing!

It’s not typical! Holding services in a movie theatre in a mall in the middle of the city makes it easier for guests to “check it out!” Packing and unpacking everything to “do” church every week gives each member an active, important role in introducing people to church. Our Home Groups give people a place to deepen their spiritual growth once they’re ready.

Each Sunday Darrell unpacks biblical truths for today in a relevant and meaningful way. The music, the talks, the dramas and videos all combine to present a message that stays with us throughout the week, supporting us through the struggles that life may throw at us.

We haven't forgotten the kids and youth. KidCity is the best hour of your kid's week. River City Youth are a vibrant and growing part of the RCC community. Both the kids and youth of River City love to invite their friends to church because they have so much fun each week.

Using Acts 2 as the template, relationships at River City are genuine, sacrificial and honest. Leaders strive to model such behavior and encourage it with others. Give River City a try! Church HAS Changed!
