Details

Red Pants Productions was originally founded in June of 2013 to present a staged reading of the show "Behind Closed Doors" written by Adam Bryan. The originally nameless company received its name "Red Pants Productions" in November of 2013 when applying to the Hamilton and Toronto Fringe Festivals with the show "Behind Closed Doors."

Red Pants Productions then went on to produce "Behind Closed Doors" at the Toronto and Hamilton Fringe Festivals in July of 2014.

Not much happened with the company until February of 2015, when the company hosted "Adam Bryan's WRECKED Cabaret", a response to Bryan Adams RECKLESS Anniversary Tour happening the same night in Hamilton. The event went on to raise over $200 for both SACHA and the now defunct group The Well.

Later, the company went on to present a double feature of Robin Zee's "BorderLine Me" and "Behind Closed Doors" as part of Mental Health Awareness Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Moving forward, the company hosted "Adam Bryan's Down With Love Cabaret", as part of ABCS (Adam Bryan Cabaret Series) and presented his one man show "Homeschool Dropout" in gallery mini-series at the Hamilton Fringe Festival. The show, in partnership with Tracie's Place, presented three scholarships to local youth to go towards arts education.

In September 2015, Red Pants Productions signed a lease at its current home of 27 King William Street, with a planned launch for November to provide theatre, event, and artist services for hire. Moving forward, due to illness and injury, a planned Guelph Fringe production of "Behind Closed Doors", a planned encore of "Homeschool Dropout", and a company launch party had to be cancelled, with the latter being rescheduled.

2016 was a year for all to become anew, with Red Pants Productions working events like the HamilTEN Festival, Hamilton Pride, and a concert by Juno Award Winner Liberty Silver.

"Down With Love" was reimagined and presented again at the Steel Lounge. In May, an event organized by Red Pants Productions called "Stand With Kesha" got viral attention and a vast array of media coverage, as we raised money for SACHA and Halton Women's Place.

In the summer, drop in classes started being offered in collaboration with Alyssa Nedich at our home, the Skydragon Centre. Later that year, we organized "WIGGED OUT", a fundraiser for our dear friend Sarah White as she battled stage 4 cancer. We also presented Alia Ettienne's "YellowZoned" at the Staircase and released the soundtrack to "Behind Closed Doors" also at the Staircase Theatre.

What's next to come from Red Pants Productions? "MindPLAY", Hamilton's Premiere Mental Health Theatre Festival! And much much more!
