Emotional Support By:
- Listening with respect and caring.
- Encouraging personal empowerment by supporting the individual to regain control of the situation.
- Validating feelings of vulnerability, betrayal, fear, violation, anger and shock.

Practical Assistance By:
- Accompanying victims at the hospital, at home, or at the home of a friend or family member.
- Assisting with assorted tasks that may include but are not limited to: making a safety plan, packing a bag, preparing a list of stolen or broken property, doing a home safety check, etc.
- Transporting to a hospital, their home or that of family or friend, or make arrangements for transport to an emergency shelter.

Referral Assistance (RP):
- Volunteers and staff have access to a Community Resource list of services and their providers available in our district. This information is given to the victim during the time of crisis and may be accessible following the traumatic event.

Sexual Assault Counseling:
- Rainy River District Victim Services is pleased to announce that sexual assault counseling for victims of Sexual Assault is now available. Counseling is available on a one-on-one basis and as needed.
- This service is free to all victims of Sexual Assault. To find out more or to book an appointment please contact our office at (807) 274-5687. There is also a number of resources (books, pamphlets, videos) available for victims, in our library. Come spend a few hours, have tea or coffee and relax in our Soft Room, take all the time you need. Victims Quick Response Program (VQRP):
- Victims of violent crime need effective and compassionate support in the immediate aftermath of a crime. That is why the government has established the Victim Quick Response Program . This new service responds to the most urgent needs of victims of violent crime and will be available fast and close to home.

RRDVSP is a not-for-profit organization that partners with emergency services in the community to provide immediate emotional and practical support to victims of crime and other tragic circumstances twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
