The Lambton St. Clair Boxing club originated back in 1965 at the old Hydro building on Front St. and Maxwell St. under the tutelage of Al Rosaasen. Afterwards it was taken over by Silvio Fex. Fex had been a member of the club for years, training with the likes of Tim Taylor. They were both trained by Al and had both won numerous Ontario and Canadian Championships. Silvio progressed as head coach of Lambton St. Clair and was able to produce several Ontario, Canadian, Commonwealth and World Champions. Silvio continued to coach for many years.
Chuck Evans was a long time member of the Lambton St. Clair Boxing Club under the direction of Silvio. Silvio taught Chuck everything he knows about boxing and this was shown in his accomplishments.
As an amateur Chuck had 206 amateur fights, has won 7 Ontario titles, 5 Canadian titles, was a member of team Canada for the 1986 Commonwealth Team, and 1986 World Champion Team., as well as a team member of future World Professional Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis.
Chuck has been a boxing coach since 1995 and in his own career as a coach has produced many Ontario, Canadian, and World Champions.
Chuck is a dedicated coach that is willing to help, teach kids the art of boxing, develop a skill that will gain them self defense, discipline, confidence.
In January of 2014 the club moved to a new location in the old Eagles Club of Sarnia at 600 Phillip St. The new venue is very large, allowing the full size fight ring to be set up in the gym. The building also has a full kitchen and many other facilities.
