Cricket is a deceivingly demanding sport; players spend a long day on their feet, there are periodic fast sprints when batting, chasing down a ball, and bowling, plus various dynamic movements such as leaping, throwing, and turning quickly. Plus, you don't want to be tired when facing a fast bowler!!

Fitness aside, cricket players are susceptible to overuse injury. Strength training and conditioning plays an important role in chronic and acute injury prevention, particularly in asymmetrical sports such as cricket (i.e. batting, bowling and throwing are performed with a dominant arm or stance.

Fitness Program Element:
Core Stability: is the foundation for explosive movements and control (agility, balance and co-ordination), qualities vital in cricket.
Speed & Agility: In Cricket, the ability to accelerate, decelerate and rapid movements in all directions is more important than simply running fast.
Strength & Power: bowling faster, throwing the ball further, running faster between the wickets and hitting the ball that much further when you find that sweet spot.
Endurance: is the cornerstone of your cricket fitness; it helps you generate energy and resist fatigue, so you can perform effectively for the duration of the game.
Flexibility: is critical in Cricket because of the joint stress associated with dynamic multi-joint movements like batting and bowling. Lack of range of movement can lead to injury and a reduction in speed, agility, strength and endurance potential.
