Color: Black, Blue,Chocolate and Lilac. All t">Rottweilers have always been my favorite breed, and was the first breed I started with and bred on my own, ( back in the 1990's ) and to this day I still love the look, structure, movement and loyalty of the great and beautiful Rottweiler, but did not want the size, mess and responsibility that comes with owning and breeding a big breed like the Rottweiler again. So I wondered if there were any smaller, old breeds with the same look, build, temperament and devotion to their family as our beloved Rottweilers.
I found the color, some with the build, or temperament, or maybe even the drive but not one old breed had everything I loved about these big beautiful dogs all wrapped up in one smaller, not breakable, more manageable size.
What I did see is a lot of mixed breed dogs that were closer to what I wanted than the old breeds, but they too were lacking the consistency and health I was looking for.
This, along with a few other long winded reasons, is when I decided to purchase my foundations dogs and begin breeding a dog that will be a manageable size for all ages, healthy and have the heart, drive and look of the great Rottweiler.

We are personally breeding for the classic black and tan color but will also have the other colors available every now and then.
I would like to see my females range from 18-22 pounds and our males about 22 to 28 pounds.
I would like to see a therapy type temperament combined with agility, endurance and strength, leaving them with a good "on/off switch" and the ability to adapt to all types of families and lifestyles.

*See "About" for breed specific and standard details.

A little about what we are doing to make sure we are producing happy & healthy puppies.
DNA and health testing on all breeding dogs threw PPG, PennGen & the CHC
Vet verified ( qualified but not OFA certified ) or OFA Hips ( starting 2017- 2018 all new breeding dogs will have OFA scores done just to make sure we are still on the right track)

* Not all dogs/breeds need all tests done. If the disease or mutation does not exist in the breed, the need for further testing is no longer needed. Monitoring and doing periodic checks is advised and is something we will continue to do as we move forward.

I am often asked what the genetic makeup is of our dogs. As they have been breeding Rottiebear to Rottiebear for more than a decade now they truly do have a uniqueness of their own.
However if you would like further information on our dogs and what went into getting where we are today, please feel free to check out or website or email me at canadianrottiebears@gmail.com ( Name change coming soon!!)
