Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys’ High School is a renowned name in the district of Gazipur. This is one of the ancient and most famous schools located at the heart point of Gazipur that has been providing quality education and producing genius and scholars for more than hundred years. Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys’ High School is such an institution that has tremendous reputation for its educational environment, well-planned syllabus, emphasis on discipline and improving standard of education, qualified teachers, organized and efficient management, consistency in Junior Scholarship and SSC results, co-curricular activities, active participation and quality performances of its students in each and every competition either in academic or co-curricular fields like sports, science fairs, math Olympiads, and in other regional or nationwide interschool competitions.


The establishment of Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys’ High School has a historic background. It was a great initiative taken by Bhawal King Raja Rajendra Narayan to establish this school in 1905 after her wife’s name. Since then, by the sincere efforts of highly educated and trained Headmasters and teachers, the school has grown bigger and better. It was enlisted as a government school in April, 1981. From then onward, the achievements gained by the students of the school stunned everyone and have created new bench marks for other schools. Geographically the main school building is located on the western side of spacious and historic ‘Rajbari Maidan’. Near to it are the DC office and the District Judge Court. This clearly indicates that Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys’ High School stands at the heart point of Joydebpur, Gazipur. There is a separate official building opposite to the main school building for official works like keeping accounts and storing information about the school. It also holds the Headmaster’s office. The school holds classes from grade six to ten in two shifts. As it’s the one of the very few government boys’ school in the whole district and especially because it is located in the main area, many parents wish their students to get admitted in this school. But unfortunately for limited seats and facilities, it wasn’t possible to provide quality education to so many students previously and as such they were deprived. So the government decided to run the school in two shifts from this year for admitting more students in order to fulfill the long-felt wish of the people of Gazipur. The morning shift starts from 7:00 a.m. and runs till 12:00 p.m. The day shift begins at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. About one thousand students are receiving sound education and acquiring academic and co-curricular skills in double shifts. Their school hour starts with a disciplined assembly led by the scout leaders and concluded by an instructive speech from the honorable Headmaster or one of the senior teachers.A faculty of about 30 well qualified, well trained and professional teachers put in their sincere efforts and works with devotion to maintain and uplift the educational standards of the school. Moreover supporting staffs like assistant officials and five orderlies leave no stone unturned to create an ideal environment for teaching and sharing knowledge.The motto of the school is “Knowledge is Light.” The authority believes in this and works with full sincerity to educate and enlighten the students. The main features that have added an extra dimension to the high standard of this institution are the weekly classes for grade 9&10 under Bangladesh Open University, activities of Boys’ Scouts, a community based tele-communication center which is also used as a computer lab known as Internet Learning Center (ILC) established in 2005, set up and initially facilitated by Relief International, Bangladesh. Moreover, the school is a part of Connecting Classroom Project organized and funded by British Council. Needless to say, the achievements gained by the school and its students are remarkable and outstanding which has been creating new records and adding to the reputation of the school. It is necessary to mention that the former students of this school have later established them and have been successful in their lives. Many high officials of civil and military administration and in judiciary sector, government officials, renowned politicians, corporate managers, IT officers, social workers, bankers and educationist serving either in Bangladesh or in other foreign countries graduated from this high school.
