Department of Mechanical Engineering,KUET 4.06

Mechanical Engineering Department of khulna University of Engineering & Technology(KUET) with about 40 years of contributions in the fields of Mechanical Engineering in home and abroad, was founded in 1974 ( Actually the department was founded as a part of Khulna Engineering College in 1967,later started its long cherished Journey in 3 June 1974, which was converted to an autonomous institute called Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Khulna in July 1986, and then as khulna university of engineering & technology (KUET) in September 2003.

It is one of the 3 faculties of Khulna University Of Engineering & Technology (KUET) including 5 deparments,namely-
1. Department of Mechanical Engineering
2. Department of Industrial Engineering & Management
3. Dept. of Energy Technology
4. Dept. of Leather Engineering
5. Department of Textile Engineering.

Today the department is with over 35 faculty members and around 500 students who are studying in undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching is by means of lectures, laboratory classes and tutorials. The studies familiarize with the fundamentals of mathematics, physics and chemistry. Basic sciences are also taught and practical experience is gained in the workshops and laboratories. Therefore, the graduates with fundamental knowledge and practical skill are expected to involve in different industrial activities and team works. The department has contracts with the governmental sectors and individual industries to serve projects. The faculty members of this department are also very active in the area of publications. Every year their papers are published in respective domestic or international journals, or accepted for presentation at international and domestic conferences.

Major laboratories are : Heat Engine Lab,Model lab,Applied Mechanics Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, CFD lab, Metallurgy lab, Metrology lab, Mechatronics lab, Computer Lab etc. ; Major workshops include Machine Shop, Production shop,Welding Shop,Wood Shop,Foundry Shop etc;
