CARE Bangladesh Private Sector Engagement - PSE 3.47

The Private Sector Engagement (PSE) was initiated as Economic Development Unit (EDU) in 2006 in CARE Bangladesh (CARE B) with a view to:

1. Remove ‘bottlenecks’ from the market system of primarily rural, agricultural sub-sectors;

2. Provide and/or improve access to business development services, market linkages and training;

3. Ensure improved access to dignified employment for the disadvantaged.

In 2010, EDU was ‘relaunched’ as PSE and began working with a broader private sector agenda as it creates a win-win situation between our impact group and private partners. CARE believes that engaging with the private sector has some major benefits to our impact population; such as, the private sector's depth and breadth of reach which can be exploited through business to reach massive development impact scale. Since the impact population is an integral part of the socioeconomic system, their participation contributes significantly to ensuring sustainability in development programs.
